“Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will.” –Frederick Douglass
Okay, I confess. I’m against war. Even the next one. And sometimes I walk the line.
I have been a labor organizer, working for more than twenty years for three labor unions, and I have participated in the women’s movement, anti-war protests, the farmworkers struggle, the American Indian movement, and in local community actions.
I have also photographed demonstrations for many years. This portfolio represents a sampling of my anti-Iraq war, Burma freedom, Arab Spring, Occupy, Black Lives Matter, labor movement, and Women’s March photographs. I aim to capture individual moments, within the context of something much larger.
What makes our country great is our right to protest wrongs and to organize for a better tomorrow. Solidarity forever.
